Rosacea is a common skin allergy that causes a
reddish flare on the skin. We shed light on the condition and suggest some
simple remedies to reduce it.
Your gorgeous skin
and pretty features often come in for their share of compliments. These
compliments can make you blush. But lately, you blush and the blush doesn’t go
away for a long time. It is embarrassing to have a constantly red face – but
there doesn’t seem to be anything you can do about it.
Fair skinned people
can find their skin flushing when they’re exercising, or when they blush, or
when they’re having a fever. The redness in the skin is caused by the blood
vessels dilating in response to increased heart beats. However, they should go
back to normal after a while. If you find that your skin is often red for long
periods of time, and if there are pimples or pustules on the reddish skin, you
probably have a skin allergy known as ‘rosacea’.
There is no known
cause or skin allergy treatment for rosacea. But your dermatologist can
prescribe oral medication that controls the symptoms of rosacea. The
dermatologist can also recommend a topical cream or a skin treatment to reduce
the redness and signs of pimples on the skin.
If you are
sceptical about trying chemical skin allergy treatments for your rosacea, you
can try natural home remedies instead. But be warned that these will take a
little longer to work, though they may be as effective as the medication your
doctor prescribes:
Green tea: Green tea is packed with several antioxidants that remove the toxins
from the body and improve your skin’s health. Steep green tea for a couple of
minutes, then cool it in the refrigerator. Now take a cotton ball and apply the
cold green tea all over your face. Wash after 30 minutes with cold water. The
green tea will aid in skin healing and restoration.
Honey and lemon: Honey is a proven ingredient that locks in
moisture, while lemon lightens and tones the skin. Both exhibit important
anti-infection properties as well. Add a few drops of lemon juice to a teaspoon
of honey and apply it on the affected skin. The skin gets hydrated and its
appearance improves, with a reduction in pimples and redness.
Apple cider vinegar: It restores the skin’s pH levels, which
helps to control rosacea. Try a simple skin
allergy treatment using one
teaspoon raw apple cider vinegar, half teaspoon honey and one teaspoon plain
water. Apply the mixture to the affected skin and wash after 30 minutes.
Aloe vera gel: Aloe vera has several curative properties
for problem skin, and it shows good effects in controlling the symptoms of
rosacea. Apply fresh aloe vera gel to the affected skin every morning before
your shower. Wash with cold water and enjoy fresh, supple skin free of red
patches and pimples.
Lavender or flaxseed oil: Lavender essential oil shows great effects
on reducing rosacea, as does flaxseed oil. Mix two drops of lavender or
flaxseed oil to one tablespoon of coconut oil, and apply it on the affected
skin. This mixture shows anti-inflammatory properties, which helps in the
treatment of rosacea.
