Warts - Symptoms and treatment

What is a wart?
Wart is a harmless skin growth caused by one of the many human papillomaviruses (HPV). Normally they disappear without any treatment within 6 months to 3 years. They are common in children in the age group of 12 to 16. In few instances they become painful.

Causes
HPV enters through the broken skin and causes the top layer of the skin to grow rapidly which forms the wart. The incubation period varies between one to eight months.

Symptoms
Warts can be of different sizes and shapes. They can be rough and bumpy or flat and smooth. Inside the wart, tiny blood vessels grow which supply it with blood. They appear as dark spots at the centre of the wart. There are different type of warts and they grow anywhere on the body.
·         Common warts – Though they can grow on any of the body-part, mostly they are found on hands as gray-brown, rough dome shapes.
·         Plantar warts – They grow on the soles of the foot. As they grow bigger, they cause pain while walking.
·         Flat warts – They are mostly found on arms, face and legs as small pink, light brown or light yellow bumps with flat tops. They grow in clusters and generally are spread due to shaving.
·         Filiform warts – They are a type of flat wart that grow around nose, mouth and beard area. They are of flesh colour and look like a bunch of finger shapes.
·         Periungual warts – They appear around and under fingernails and toenails as irregular rough bumps.
·         Mosaic warts – A cluster of type of plantar warts. They generally grow on hand and soles.

Home-Treatments
While treating the warts yourself, care needs to be taken as the warts are highly infectious. If you need to rub the wart with pumice stone or a fingernail file, do not use the same tool on any other part of the body. Diabetic people should not treat the warts on their feet. Instead take doctors advice. Do not use home-treatment to remove facial warts or warts on any sensitive part of the body.
·         Salicylic acid patches – One needs to use these products regularly everyday for few weeks. To get optimum results, soak the wart in water at least for 15 minutes before the actual treatment.
·         Freezing – This is a quick wart removal treatment. However, it is not effective in all wart types. A spray of concentrated cold air is applied on the wart which kills the skin. You can then scrape away the wart’s surface.
·         Duct-tape – In this treatment, wart is covered with a small duct tape piece for many days. Then wart is soaked and rubbed to take off the dead skin. With this method, several rounds of treatments are required for complete wart removal.
Clinically, warts can be removed using liquid nitrogen or by surgery.

Warts are embarrassing for those who have it. Many over the counter methods are available for removal of warts. If these-treatments don’t work up to the mark, one should not hesitate to contact the general practitioner.

All You Need To Know About Skin Pigmentation

Skin pigmentation can take many forms, and the condition points to an imbalance in the skin cells that produce melanin. This article looks at the condition. You may have noticed it in somebody else, or maybe in yourself – a discoloured patch of skin on the face or body, either darker than the rest of the skin or lighter. There are some whose entire body is covered in white skin, accompanied by light hair and eyes. In others, there are prominent spots or skin lesions. All of these conditions point to different types of skin pigmentation. What is it? Skin pigmentation is a general term used to describe a change in the skin’s cellular composition that brings about discolouration of the skin. The skin gets its colour from melanin, a pigment present in the dermis. It is produced by melanocytes, which are special cells present in the upper layer of the skin called the epidermis. When melanin is produced, it quickly starts spreading across the skin – thus, your skin is uni

Botox and Facial Fillers – How do they work?

There is a difference in the way botox and dermal facial fillers work. This article explains the need for both, and how to get a good treatment for botox in Dubai. Wrinkles and fine lines are a natural effect of aging. But they can make you look much older than your actual years. If you want to get rid of these unseemly wrinkles, you could consider getting a filler injection or Botox in Dubai. How are Botox and dermal filler treatments different? Most people are confused between Botox and dermal facial filler treatments. Though both are used to reduce the fine lines and wrinkles on the face, they are dramatically different in the way they are administered and how they function. With Botox, you are administered tiny doses of Botulinum Toxin, a neurotoxin that is injected into the nerve in the wrinkle being targeted. The nerve is deactivated temporarily, thus inhibiting the muscle that it sends impulses to. In turn, the muscle is also deactivated, which relaxes the

Why Opt For A Permanent Hair Removal?

A major task for every woman is probably taking care of the hair problems in a sense of having to maintain a hair free body and that too in all the appropriate parts of the body. Women also have to go through a lot of pains in the literal sense to get a hairless body. Hair removal styles such as waxing and even shaving have certain disadvantages. They can cause problems such as bruises and bumps which are very uncomfortable. There is a permanent solution for this which is known as laser hair removal. This treatment ensures permanent hair removal on all the appropriate parts of the body. This is a very effective hair removal treatment which is determined by the examination of the hair follicle. The framework of the laser is defined thoroughly by the match of the laser light with the location and size of the hair follicle. You should look for an effective solution for hair removal considering different factors such as pain and discomfort and the recurring cost which it takes for
