Bid adieu to those acne scars

You need not let acne scars hold you back from facing the world with confidence. Take a look at these easy remedies to reduce the appearance of acne scars.

The skin is the mirror to the state of our health. A seemingly fit person might betray the true state of their health when they have acne, oiliness and dull skin. These signs show that the skin is not able to repair and restore itself efficiently, owing to certain internal issues in the skin.

The most problematic skin problem is acne, especially when it leaves ugly scars. While some acne may appear and recede without any visible signs, most leave pits and reddish scars that are easily visible. They mar one’s appearance and deplete your confidence in your own looks.

But there is no reason to suffer acne scars in silence – there are some nifty home remedies you can try to reduce their appearance. Start by following a daily ritual of cleansing and moisturising the skin. Prevention is always better than cure when it comes to acne – clean, healthy skin is less amenable to acne, and if there is no acne, you won’t have scars!

Get a skin examination from a reputed dermatologist to understand how to prevent the occurrence of acne. Meanwhile, you can try the following home remedies to remove your acne scars:

Turmeric and yoghurt. Turmeric is a versatile substance that heals the body in many ways. It has an antibacterial, anti-inflammatory property that is crucial to skin repair and restoration. Mix a teaspoon of fresh turmeric to cold yoghurt and make a paste. Turmeric reduces the appearance of acne scars and yoghurt moisturises the skin. Apply this paste all over the scars, covering them fully. Wash after an hour with cold water.

Tomato juice. Tomato is a veritable storehouse of minerals, vitamins and skin-friendly nutrients that impart a healthy glow to the skin. It offers important benefits such as anti-tanning, reducing the appearance of acne scars, and improving the skin’s moisture levels. Take an overripe tomato and remove the seeds. Now rub the pulp on your scars and leave on for 30 minutes. Wash with warm water. Do this daily till the scars are gone.

Milk and honey pack. Milk offers important nutrients that nourish and cleanse the skin. It also aids cellular repair, which is crucial for the reduction of acne scars. Meanwhile, honey hydrates the skin and offers protection against oxidising agents. Mix one teaspoon of honey and milk and apply it on the acne scars. Not only does this mixture lighten the scars, it also prevents acne from recurring. Wash with cold water after 30 minutes.
