Should you use Oriental wax?

Oriental waxing is effective and long term hair removal method. It is better than shaving and epilation.

When it comes to waxing, it is important to use the right method for the best results. While most women prefer to go with hot waxing or try cold wax strips at home, there are many who vouch for the results of Oriental waxing as well.

What is Oriental waxing?
It is a process that uses sugar in a bit of water heated over the flame to form a gooey caramel-like substance. The sugar paste is kept warmed over the flame, because once it cools it tends to dry out slightly. However, it is viscous and can be pulled into a long strand or rolled into a ball. The same sugar lump can be used over and over again to remove hair.

When applied to the skin, the Oriental wax paste sticks to the hair and grips it. You can then pull away the entire strip – the hair comes away with it. You can reapply the same strip again, till such time that it is no longer effective. At this point, you can take a fresh strip from the batch you have prepared.

Advantages of Oriental waxing
Many women prefer Oriental waxing to the traditional hot or cold wax strips that are used in salons. This is because:
·         Oriental wax does not stick to the stick, and it does not cause burns.
·         The hair is pulled away easily and without harming the skin.
·         When the strip pulls away the hair, it also exfoliates the skin by removing dead cells on the surface.
·         There is no need to use cloth strips to pull away the wax. It is thus, a more economical option in many cases.
·         The wax pulls away the hair from the root. Thus, hair regrows slowly and after a longish interval. The hair regrowth is also finer than before.
·         The Oriental wax can be used on large areas of the body, such as the arms and legs, and also in intimate areas such as the bikini zone and the armpits.
But be sure to handle the wax carefully, especially when preparing it. The wax must be prepared on a low flame, and not overheated. If overheated, it turns dark and holds absorbs a higher amount of heat. Thus, the skin is likely to burn when the wax is applied. It is better to opt for ready to apply Oriental wax from the pharmacy.
Spa wax kits from the best brands help you heat the wax to the right temperature. Or you can use ready Spa wax that is heated in the microwave as directed – do not overheat and do not under-heat. This is a better option than preparing the wax yourself.

Once removed, the wax may leave a sticky residue on the skin. You can wipe this off with a wet cloth, or wash off the skin in lukewarm water – the sugar paste simply dissolves!
